What's an "HCASC easy button"?

It's a free replacement for a lockout system!

Because the new game format does not allow interruptions of Face-Off questions, judging which player signaled first is easy...

If a player hits the button to signal before the question has been read in its entirety, the moderator ignores that and just keeps reading.

Once the moderator has finished reading the Face-Off question, s/he listens for the "team 1" or "team 2" audible sound from the battery operated table-top button, calling on the correct team's player to answer the Face-Off.

If it sounds simple, it is!

The goal is to teach both moderators and players that Face-Off questions may not be interrupted.

The existing lockouts can be used, but the procedure requires a reset person:

  1. Use 3 lockout buttons, one on each side and a 3rd on either side.
  2. Give the 2 players a lockout and give the reset person the 3rd.
  3. As the player picks the category for a Face-Off question, the lockout person presses their hand held lockoput button. This "locks out" the 2 players.
  4. On the last word of the Face-Off question, the reset person hits the reset button on the lockout controller box. That enables the 2 players' buzzers.
  5. As the player picks the next category for a Face-Off question, the lockout person presses their hand held lockoput button. This "locks out" the 2 players.

This may be confusing to individuals who have previously used the lockout, so advance practice will be needed.,
